Young is widely regarded as the first Hammond organist who guided the instrument into free jazz and experimental territories. Subsequently, he played keys on groundbreaking projects such as Herbie Hancock’s “Blow Up” soundtrack, Miles Davis’s “Bitches Brew”, and he even jammed in the studio with Jimi Hendrix. Larry Young passed away untimely at 38, leaving behind a profound legacy and a whole new musical vision.
