Coming three years after the release of Artemis’ critically acclaimed self-titled debut, the sextet’s second album showcases a new line-up with founding members pianist Renee Rosnes, drummer Allison Miller, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen and bassist Noriko Ueda joined by newcomers tenor saxophonist Nicole Grover and multi-reedist Alexa Tarantino. Alongside assured cover versions of tunes by Lyle Mays and Wayne Shorter, it presents six sparkling originals that shine with creativity and sophistication.
