Limited to 750 copies worldwide, this hand-numbered collector’s edition presents every note from The Tiberi Tapes—more than 80 performances and nearly 26 hours of music—in high-resolution audio on a custom-engraved, brass-plated USB drive. The set also includes an exclusive 180-gram LP, a deluxe 44-page hardcover book, collectible archival materials and a foil-stamped certificate of authenticity, all housed in a custom archival storage box with an engraved brass plaque. The Tiberi Tapes opens a door long-whispered about among Coltrane fans: intimate, previously-unheard live recordings made by saxophonist and clarinetist Frank Tiberi as he followed John Coltrane through Philadelphia and New York clubs in the early 1960s. Captured on modest reel-to-reel equipment as private study material, these performances trade polish for presence, placing the listener close to the bandstand as Coltrane and his bandmates test, stretch and transform the music in real time.
While The Tiberi Tapes standard edition presents a curated 11-track selection, The Complete Recordings offers the definitive presentation of this extraordinary archive. Its custom USB drive—designed in homage to the microphone originally paired with Tiberi’s Concertone recorder—contains the complete surviving recordings in high-resolution audio.
Created exclusively for this edition, the 180-gram LP features performances not included on the standard edition and is housed in a custom-designed “brass” tip-on jacket. The 44-page, foil-stamped hardcover book features expanded editorial exclusive to this edition, including a complete track-by-track covering all 80-plus performances. Additional archival printed materials further illuminate the story of the tapes and their being made available.
The archival storage box, exclusive LP and certificate of authenticity are each individually hand-numbered, making The Complete Recordings a singular, one-time-only presentation of the complete Tiberi archive—and an enduring document of the bandstand as John Coltrane’s truest laboratory.
