Rising vocal jazz star Gabrielle Cavassa is set to release her Blue Note Records debut Diavola in 2026. Produced by Joshua Redman & Don Was, the album features an extraordinary band with Jeff Parker on guitar, Paul Cornish on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, Brian Blade on drums, and a special guest appearance by Redman on tenor saxophone. The set is a showcase for Cavassa’s deeply affecting vocals and stunning interpretations of choice covers, jazz standards, and original songs. Cavassa began to turn heads with her standout performance as the featured vocalist on Redman’s 2023 Blue Note debut where are we, which prompted DownBeat to declare her “a young singer with a deep, rich, fragile voice... Cavassa is a star in the making.” Stereophile wrote that “For many, the revelation of this album will be Cavassa. Her voice gets under your skin. It is idiosyncratic, but it is trustworthy in its clarity and almost physical in its intimacy… her intuitive interpretations and riveting voice make you sit very still in your chair.”
