Recorded live during a four-day stint at the intimate Lion d’Or club during the 2019 Festival International de Jazz, Montreal finds acclaimed Canadian singer Holly Cole going back to basics, playing with her original trio of bassist Aaron Davis and pianist David Piltch for the first time in 25 years, with help from long-time collaborators Davide Direnzo on drums and John Johnson on woodwinds. Most of the tracks here are Cole classics, given sensitive new readings sprinkled with the magic of live performance.
