Featuring an all-star lineup, “Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet” is one of the four albums that came out of the two legendary 1956 sessions of the quintet. “Cookin’” is often noted for its band cohesion, and Davis himself is quoted in the liner notes, the record is aptly titled: "After all, that's what we did—came in and cooked." The music is complemented by cover design by Reid Miles centred on an illustration by Phil Hays, the whole package makes“Cookin’ with the Miles Davis Quintet” an essential album.
